ICE Is an Army Recruiter’s Dog!
(Originally Published as a pamphlet from an allied organization “Portland Antiimperialist Action”
The Army National Guard put on a presentation on the 11th of August 2025 at the Beaverton City Library. The presentation and its advertisements posted around the city were in Spanish and explicitly aimed at the recruitment of migrants who had been terrorized by ICE. Here we see the true purpose of ICE’s mission.
You see, the reactionary regime does not truly care for the jobs of the “American worker.” They wish to use immigration enforcement as a convenient bludgeon to discipline working people. ICE goes out and cracks skulls and imprisons people, some of which are undocumented but others are US citizens or green card holders. Then ghouls like the US military reach out and offer terrorized workers the opportunity to become butchers for this country to avoid its efforts at ethnic cleansing. Immigration enforcement is being used to discipline a section of workers.
And do not let it escape our attention that the Beaverton City Library hosted the event! That all sections of the US government, be they state or national, have the same loyalties whether they are colored in a shade of liberal capitalism or fascist capitalism. The factions of the rich will always collude with each other in order to put us down.
In the mad dash to meet deportation quotas, ICE is making mistakes. It is more than possible that they could deport an off duty National Guardsmen. It is even more likely that ICE would deport the National Guardsmen’s family while they are on duty. Either way the protections offered are hollow. And what does the National Guard do? They deploy to terrorize our cities and support ICE. This machine feeds on working people and then attempts to threaten them into helping it.
This supplements ICE’s other long-term role: depressing the wages of workers. When a migrant worker demands better pay, or sometimes demands that they even get the pay they were promised, the bosses often threaten to call ICE. Immigration enforcement terrorizes the migrant worker into accepting incredibly low wages. But it does not stop there. Migrant workers and citizen workers are put into competition with one another. Why does the union demand better pay for EVERYONE? Because lower paid workers act as scabs, even without meaning to, and undermine the pay of everyone. Deportation is not just a Mexican issue, or a migrant issue, or a Latino issue, it is a working-class issue where every worker loses if we let them continue!
Reject their recruitment attempts. Do not let them terrorize you into terrorizing your own communities! Organize with neighbors, we are stronger than them together. Do not go over to the side of the oppressor.
