HB 3522: A War Against Squatters
Oregon up to this point had long been relatively lenient on squatters rights, that is until recently when the Oregon House of Representatives passed House Bill 3522. The bill greatly speeds up the process of evicting squatters, where previously it took weeks to months, this bill empowers eviction with 24 hours notice.
Landlords commonly purchase large amounts of properties as an investment for future profit, in which these properties are left completely empty, while thousands are on the streets. A squatter could take refuge in these empty properties and persist for a long period, providing use to the people of these properties that sit and collect dust. Instead the bastard landlords toss them out and continue to extract profit from the people.
This bill should be opposed to the highest degree once it becomes effective on January 1st 2026, the masses will face much greater hurdles to carrying out these occupations. To counter this, we must link these occupations with the masses, and resist against any attempt to evict these struggling people.
